Her Story

I had a pretty good pregnancy and the easiest labor you can imagine. Alexys was born at 1:18 am on 2/17/2005. She was beautiful - 6 lb. 14 oz. and 18.25 inches long. She was my little miracle and I didn't want to let her go. She had so much hair! At about 4:00 am they moved us to another room and took her for a bath. I couldn't wait for her to come back! She came back at about 5:00 am. Big sister Brooklyn came to meet her at about 8:00 am along with Nana. And visitors came throughout the day. That evening at about 8:00, the pediatrician came to check her out. She said she was perfect - but we already knew that. At about 9:00 pm, the picture people came. But Alexys was too sleepy for a picture, so we scheduled it for the next morning. Daddy and sister left at 10:30 pm. It was just momma and Alexys. She nursed at 11:30 and we both fell asleep. She was in my arms and I woke up at 1:30 am. I put her in her crib. At 3:30 am, the nurses came to check us both. She wasn't moving and she was so cold. They brought the crash cart in... they tried to revive her for 30 minutes. But it was too late. By the time, Daddy and sister got there, I was just holding her little body. I couldn't let go. It wasn't supposed to happen this way. I left the hospital that evening with empty arms. I miss her terribly.
