I received an email a while ago and like Kathy's, I forgot to get it posted on here. It's about a book on sibling grief. I don't have the book myself, but thought there may be many others out there interested in getting a copy. Here's what I received:
I am writing to announce the publication of the second edition of my book, Sibling Grief: Healing after the Death of a Sister or Brother. I am the director of the Sibling Connection, an organization that provides resources for bereaved siblings. Sibling Grief was called by Compassion Books "a moving, very readable guide -- one of the finest resources available on sibling grief, for individual or professional use."
From the back cover:
"P. Gill White, PhD has done an outstanding job of writing on a much-needed subject within the bereavement community, sibling grief. As siblings sadly are often the “forgotten” grievers when the death of their brother or sister occurs, a book such as this is greatly needed. Dr. White’s insights and experiences as both a bereaved sibling herself and as a sibling grief counselor are sure to be a great help to all who read her book. Bereaved Parents of the USA will definitely be recommending her book as a resource to both our siblings and their parents"
-Patricia L. Moser, President Bereaved Parents of the USA
Sibling Grief is White’s validation of the emotional significance of sibling loss. She draws on clinical experience, research, and wisdom from hundreds of bereaved siblings to explain the five healing tasks specific to sibling grief.
Sibling Grief is available wherever fine books are sold -- online at Amazon.com - click here.
Sincerely,
P. Gill White, PhD
Director, the Sibling Connection

Their son is Braedyn Sandoval and he is listed in the nursery.
"Please have anyone who wants their child's name included to send it to braedynjoefoundation@yahoo.com"
The candle lighting is to be held Wednesday October 15th at 7:30 PM

Many of you will likely remember the request from earlier in the year for photos to be used in a SIDS awareness commercial to be broadcast at www.parents.tv. (To find it, visit the link and use their search feature at the top of the page. Just search for "sids awareness" and then click "SIDS Awareness" in the listing of results.) I just shared the collage I'd done for Tina and realized I hadn't shared the collage I had made for the commercial. Here's a screenshot of it from the commercial.

Some of the photos aren't completely visible, and in addition to the collage they had also requested several single photos which they faded in and out during the course of the commercial.

Thanks to all those who shared their baby's photo for the collage for Tina's SIDS presentation. I did it differently than I do the t-shirt collages because of limited time and not knowing how many photos I would receive in total.
I thought it turned out really nicely, all those sweet little babies will surely make an impact. I wish I could just reach into the photos and take them out.

A bunch of us made snowflakes a couple years ago, many in memory of our little ones, and I thought some of you might like to make snowflakes too, (or if you have before, to make one again). You can leave a little note with your snowflake too if you want. Over 5,000,000 snowflakes have been made at this site. It's kind of addictive, and it's amazing some of the beautiful flakes people are able to create! http://www.popularfront.com/snowdays/

Until Saturday at noon (EST) I'll accept photos emailed to me for possible inclusion in an upcoming video about SIDS. It will be available on www.parents.tv and on the Comcast Cable video on demand channel in January. I can't guarantee that all photos submitted will be used, as I was told they only need 20-30 photos. I was initially concerned that it might be another parent-blaming, prevention-claiming sort of article, but after reading the script I was pleased and thought it was well written. It does not make the claim that SIDS can be prevented, and gives some good information on reducing the risk of SIDS, while also stating clearly that it can still happen even when all the reduction advice is followed.
If interested, email me at jacobsmommy@sidsfamilies.com and put "Photo for Video" in the subject line. Please rename your photo to your baby's full name if you can, and in your email give me your name, your baby's full name and your baby's birth and death dates. (That information isn't necessarily for the video, but to help me as I organize all the photos.)

I received a request from SIDS Mom Suzette Gripp to add a link back on the site for her SIDS Questionnaire after the recent Scripps Howard News Service special report regarding SIDS. The questionnaire was on the site for years, and had completed last year, but there's been some more interested generated recently so she's opened it up again to new families who would like to participate. The following is from Suzette:"Originally, this was a 6.5 year study. However, due to the Scripps Howards Special Report on SIDS, I have extended the submission end date of the Global 2000 SIDS Questionnaire to July 16, 2011. The more information we can gather from the parents, the better chances we have of determining the cause(S) of SIDS."
If you're interested in completing her questionnaire, please visit the Related Link (below) for this post and follow her instructions to participate.
Thanks!
