I've just updated the nursery again, 35 new babies, so heartbreaking. I hate SIDS. Whatever it is, I absolutely hate it.

Also today I added buttons to the template for nursery pages to make it easier for folks to share a page via Facebook, Twitter and such.

I've finished adding all of the pending nursery pages to Heaven's Nursery, except for one because the dates were entered incorrectly and I have to get them fixed up first, for a little fellow named Nicholas James Hutsell-Martin. The dates provided are May 20, 1982 - June 27, 1978, which can't be possible since the first date occurred after the second date by several years. Typo's often happen when people fill out the forms. If anyone can tell me the correct dates for this little guy please let me know.

And on that note, I'm going to go get some sleep before the sunrise makes me want to just stay up.

It would always shock me when the odd spammer would show up on my site, but OH MY GOSH I'm just livid right now as I realized they've completely bombed my forums. There are 13,074 registered users. Users who are supposed to go through a process to register including being manually approved by moi. I know I didn't approve all these people, and there's nobody else with the administrative power to do it, so I'm stunned at how this happened. I can't imagine what they think they'll gain by posting over 45,000 spam messages advertising their crap in the Welcome forum alone! Seriously! Who's even going to waste a moment to look at that? All they're doing is taking up valuable server space and using up the bandwidth I struggle to pay for. I'm so ticked off right now. I wasn't able to do anything with the site for so long, and these nasty folks sure took advantage. I still don't know how they even got in. I may have to take down the board altogether. That would make 2 programs spammers have ruined for me. The email card program was the first, and I had paid a lot of money for that one, but don't have the programming smarts to keep them out. These people even try to enter fake "babies" into the nursery in order to get their link active on the website! Thankfully there aren't usually very many of those, I think I've deleted 5 or so in the past few days, and they're always easy to spot because the baby name spot will be something like "xadfjadhg".

Anyway.. I have a lot of time consuming pain in the patootie deleting in my future, please bear with me as I get this fixed.

I've been at it for over 12 hours on and off today, and made some good progress getting all the babies added. I ran into several more pages today that didn't have a photo even though it indicated one had been uploaded. Very sad about that, I hate when pictures go missing. I've been dealing with a lot of duplicate entries too, which makes for slow going, as well as entries typed in ALL CAPS, and a significant number of entries that needed major editing for spelling and grammar. I always want to have the pages the best I can possibly make them, but I admit I really really appreciate the spell-checked entries which make this go so much faster! I've just spent about 5 hours getting some more babies added to the nursery. Unfortunately some photos were lost. It was likely one of the times they wiped the site, because the program indicated that a photo had been uploaded, but the link was broken and the photo didn't exist on the server so something had to have happened to the photos. I'm all for blaming whoever shut down my site with no warning for no reason - TWICE now. If there's supposed to be a photo on the page feel free to submit one, once I get the nursery pages added, I plan to tackle my email and get any updates made to existing pages. There was another mix-up with the server recently and it was down for a bit. They told hubby they didn't know what happened, which isn't comforting, but at least it's back up. It hasn't worked properly since they wiped it out the first time well over a year ago, and it frustrates me very much.

Anyway, aside from that, there are some other updates - the Holiday of Angels is well underway. This is the first year for a few new aspects of the gift exchange including a card exchange, and a "receive only" option for newcomers and a "give only" option for those who don't want a gift in return.

I managed to get a few new nursery pages added tonight. I'm very, very far behind in updates to the nursery but hope to get them completely caught up soon. For the time being, here's a list of the babies added today, in no particular order:

That's all I have to share for now. I hope that although I'm not as actively maintaining the site as I once was, that what was built continues to help those who are hurting. Speaking from my own experience, the loss of a child isn't something you get over, it's more like something you somehow survive and get through, and bit by bit you learn to live and even find joy in life again. With the holidays fast approaching, I know that the ache of missing our little ones can sting even more. My heart goes out to everyone who's hurting.
